I love painting -how-to-paint-Old-Masters

Artwork by Gail Annette Martin

Have you ever sat outside and looked at the light shinning through the leafs on a tree and discovered, what seemed like thousands of colors, reflecting in the pond below. It is a moment everyone should experience.

I wondered if it was possible for someone, my age, to accomplish the techniques needed to paint this fabulous scene.

After all the kids were raised, my tennis was over, because of bad knees, I needed another outlet for my sole.

I started in Watercolor, loved it! However, after many trips to the Ringling Museum in Florida, I “yearned to learn” how the Masters captured the color they so beautifully produced. I found a wonderful friend who just happened to be an oil painter. She has encouraged me to give it a try.
I love it; I love painting,I love mixing colors, I love not thinking of anything else while painting, I love the solitude, I love the out come; Sometimes. I love learning.

Improving my art is so important to me. I am 75 now and hope to improve, and get more knowledgeable about the ways of the Old Masters. How did they decide on the composition; why did they choose a certain color to be prominent in their painting? How did they meld their objects into the canvas and make them look so real and alive. I want to learn all of that , now!

Hurricane Irma blew our sliders in and our home was damaged. The tuition for the course is not in the budget at this time. I would love to win a chance to take the course.

Thank you,
Gail Martin
