About 8 years ago I had a midlife crisis of sorts. My father, who had worked very hard his whole life, passed away three months after retiring. He had only a couple of carefree months in his adult life, and barely scratched the surface of the things he wanted to do.

I am old, retired, and began painting seriously in 2015. In 2020 I completed 40 pieces of art, mainly portraiture.
I give my art to the subjects since I want to spread a little joy in the world without adversely affecting the art market in the place I live.
I prefer to paint young families and grandparents and their grandchildren. I have painted all four of my children and their spouses and children (charity begins at home). I studied another direction, but was involved in a car accident, and couldn’t do what I used to do. I also had to learn again to use my hands. I did it by crocheting and arts and craft classes.

I’ve always been passionate about art as a child and carried a sketchbook with me everywhere I went. I remember receiving a few large books from a charity shop with pictures of Old Masters paintings and tried to copy them. I was especially fascinated by the paintings of Leonardo Da Vinci and attempted a copy of the Mona Lisa when I was about ten years old. My school displayed it in the main hall. …
