How I Painted My First Reproduction of an Old Master’s Art

Gilberto Mello, Old Masters Academy student My name is Gilberto Mello, I have been a student in the Art Academy courses for a number of years. Just recently I joined the Old Masters Academy program, with Natalie Richy. I am enjoying the Old Masters courses a great deal and I am pleased by the very comprehensive and easy to follow lessons provided in the program, which I can review as many times as necessary, learning at my own pace.

I thrive to become a better artist every step of the way, so in my attempts to produce new paintings I tend to observe and question how the Old Masters have reached their glorious results.

To me, art is a careful cooperation of acquired skill and personal expression. Throughout my life, I’ve always felt a strong need to create artwork, both for the sheer fun of it, but also because I wanted my ability to improve. It wasn’t until college that I realized and ultimately decided that I should strive to make a career of my passion.

I’ve come to learn about many types and styles of art, but above all I admire the beautiful, classical artwork of the old masters. Unfortunately, I’ve found that as I study art in my classes, I don’t have the opportunity to improve my skills in the way I want. Other types of art like abstract, cartoons and stylized illustrations are very popular right now, and it seems like classical fine art is not getting the attention it very well deserves. The story of my life

My name is Frans A. Kamp, nearly 75, born and living in the Netherlands. I started to draw at 12, then paint in watercolors and at 17 also with oil painting, and now completely dedicated to the Old Master painting methods.

Before I enrolled in the Old Master Academy course, I graduated from the Web Art Academy and the Drawing Academy online art courses.

I was involved in the Nuclear Vessel Industry and later moved to Technical and General Management. At 47 I started my own Engineering and consultancy Bureau and retired at 65.

Regarding the the Old Masters Academy, I have learned a lot from this online art course.

I was familiar with the Old (Dutch) Masters, but never had the change to see their painting techniques in real life, so I found Old Masters Academy video lessons very educational and easy to follow.

I am a very busy mother of two with 3 jobs to keep up with life in general and loans. I have been through hell and back, always putting my needs last. Now it is time to pursue my dream.

I have always loved art and I am an old soul with old values in 2019. Been hidden in my space for too long, now at 40 I want to emerge. I feel I deserve my time to shine after a lifelong battle. Art has been the dream that kept me dreaming for better times, promising myself a nice prospect for when life will smile at me and now its the time.

Considering my very limited to none art lessons I feel to be a good self thought artist, but certain challenges they have to be thought by masters.
