Hello, my name is Faith Alexander and I’m 18 years old. Art honestly is my future and I don’t want to do anything else as a career.

Art has been in my life for 9 years total, I’ve been through the hobby stage of my art, now art is something I take seriously and to me that means being able to learn outside of my comfort zone.

My artistic challenges are properly executing techniques, color theory, and actually using a color scheme, and I take this as an opportunity to continue learning.

I want to learn from a teacher how to actually apply techniques, color theory, how to start and finish a painting like the old masters.

I was brainwashed by contemporary artist into having the “creativity doesn’t equal skill” mindset, when without skill I can’t execute what’s creative in my mind! …

I work in the healthcare field that soaks up my time, but I love art and I try to paint and draw whenever I can.

I have recently joined the Old Masters Academy and even in just the first 10 videos I have learned so much. The simplest, but the most fundamental things about painting that seemed to evade me for the last 8 years!

My English is not the best but I do speak via art. I’m a 50 years old housewife, an empty nester that finds joy in painting. I love the old masters, I’m fascinated by their works and their lives, the circumstances that limited and challenge their art.

I’ve loved oil painting since I’m a little girl. When I was younger there was not any formal graduate level program in my country (Dominican Republic) so I’ve never had the chance to study formally.

I’m currently working towards finishing my mechanical engineering masters degree while working part-time. I started drawing fairly recently in order to improve my technical design skills, but I had no idea I’d enjoy it this much! Drawing is a form of meditation for me. I am a young artist and I have just kick started my art career.

Modern art schools do not have proper techniques and I would love to learn the techniques in Old Masters Academy course. Art takes a serious place in my life, basically it is my everything.

My challenges are when people think that I am not a serious artist. I am also financially unstable and I cannot afford this course.

I struggle with proportion and anatomy. People enjoy my artworks but for me I am personally not happy with the outcome. I am simply having a hard time teaching myself.
